We were pretty stunned when we discovered that Harry is a fan of Modern Ferret magazine. Eric remembered Harry's appearances on Saturday Night Live and Cheers, and Mary used to watch Night Court regularly.

It's pretty exciting to be able to photograph and interview someone that you've been a fan of for a long time.

Tiffany Taylor

Tiffany is the first person (besides Mary) that Eric photographed. Before then it was just ferrets -- and they're usually not concerned with what they look like as long as they get a treat after the photo session. Of course, it's just like us to pick a Playboy model as our first human model. Eric was very nervous about photographing Tiffany. But it all turned out fine. Thankfully we had other people there to help with setting up the photos -- Kenneth C. Kiefer (my hairdresser for more years than I'll openly admit) and Tiffany's boyfriend. Since then, we've become friends with Tiffany and her boyfriend, and all that nervousness from the photo session seems almost silly.

It took Eric about a year to land this interview, but his hard work and persistence (traits he learned from our ferrets) -- and just a little luck -- paid off.

The right person at Goodby Silverstein and Partners happened to hear Tiffany Taylor talking about Modern Ferret on Howard Stern's show and thought we might be on to something... we were: The Ferret of the Century!

Nikki Fritz

Tiffany Taylor put us in touch with Nikki. She called us one day and said, "I don't know why I didn't think of this before -- I know an actress who has a ferret."

The most fun part of our visit with Nikki was sneaking Lilly onto Hollywood Boulevard in broad daylight to get a picture of her on Arnold Schwarzenegger's star (remember Kindergarten Cop?). Nikki assured us that we wouldn't be making a big scene -- after all, it was Hollywood. She was absolutely right. Hardly anyone took notice of the little ferret sitting on the star. It helped that we tried to huddle around her a bit so no one could see what kind of animal she was.

(It you ever actually go to where Schwarzenegger's star is, you'll see plenty of stuff weirder than a ferret being photographed.)

Tim Gore

Nikki Fritz put us in touch with her good friend Tim Gore. Tim is a Hollywood special effects artist (note the eyeballs!). It was a blast hanging out with Tim and taking pictures of his ferrets. The coffin table (no, not "coffee" table) in his living room made an ideal place to take pictures of the ferrets.

Jennicam

Our friends Bill and Diane Killian (Zen and the Art of Ferrets in Virginia) hooked us up with Jennifer Ringley, better known as Jenni from the pioneer webcam site Jennicam.org. We had great fun visiting her and taking pictures of her and her ferrets -- while having our pictures taken by her ever-present webcams.
