FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MODERN FERRET MAGAZINE NAMES THE BUDWEISER FERRET "THE FERRET OF THE CENTURY"

Candid Interview Reveals the Private Side of the Most Influential Ferret of the 20th Century

LONG ISLAND, New York - The November/December 1999 issue of Modern Ferret, the award-winning ferret lifestyle magazine, should spark controversy with its selection of the Budweiser ad campaign's Ferret character as "The Ferret of the Century."

Modern Ferret selected the Budweiser Ferret for this prestigious honor because he embodies the best traits of domesticated ferrets: he's socially adept, an enthusiastic dancer, and very cute. In addition, he projects his positive image into millions of homes every day through his starring role in a major ad campaign. The Budweiser Ferret stars in the award-winning series of TV and radio ads featuring the Budweiser Frogs and Louie and Frank the lizards created by the San Francisco, Calif., ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

"It may seem all tongue-in-cheek, but there's a genuine side to it, too. The Budweiser Ferret projects a positive, accurate image of ferrets as happy, fun-loving, and social creatures - an image that is lacking in many portrayals of ferrets in the media," said Mary R. Shefferman, Editor of Modern Ferret.

The Budweiser Ferret was selected as "The Ferret of the Century" over some very worthy candidates, including Kodo and Podo from the Beastmaster movies and "Ferret" from the Arnold Schwarzengger movie Kindergarten Cop.

In addition to the Budweiser Ferret interview (conducted and translated by Louie the Lizard) and some candid photos of the Ferret at leisure - including a provocative centerfold photo - the issue has an interview with the creative team at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. The issue also has tips for new ferret owners, recipes for ferret treats, ferret gift tags, and the latest about angora ferrets.

"The humorous interview with the Ferret and the titillating photos go right along with Modern Ferret's editorial bent to entertain and inform. We've always considered ourselves to be the Rolling Stone of pet magazines," said Eric Shefferman, Modern Ferret's Designer.

In lieu of a ceremony, Modern Ferret magazine has presented the Budweiser Ferret with a nice basket of treats - to be consumed, as always, in moderation.

The November/December issue of Modern Ferret is on sale now and is available at Borders Books and Music, Barnes & Noble, Petco, and other pet and book outlets and by subscription.
